Trump Confused at Bizarre New Year's Eve Event
Donald Trump held a New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago, where he took a few questions from reporters. Notably, Trump dodged a question about whether he supports a national abortion ban. As soon as the journalist was able to get the question out, Trump ignored her and called on another reporter to ask a different question. Trump also ducked a question about Ron DeSantis, seeming to not want to address the Florida governor who has been soaring in the polls and betting markets. The former president was then asked what his hopes for America are in 2023, and he offered a word salad of an answer, somehow connecting the US southern border with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Trump appears to be getting less and less in touch with reality at a time when he needs to get his footing back in order to have any shot at winning the 2024 Republican primary.
The Scam of Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, Liver King, Etc
Over the past several years, a number of figures have popped up that are meant to appeal to young men who feel marginalized or dissatisfied with their lives. Examples include Jordan Peterson, Andrew Tate, and “The Liver King.” These figures present themselves as revolutionary leaders who will help men take control of their lives and fight against a culture that is supposedly holding them back. Unfortunately, many of these influencers are actually scamming their followers, offering quick fixes and empty promises while profiting from their vulnerability and desperation. They use Marxist-sounding rhetoric to present themselves as the ones who will overthrow the powers that be, yet they are themselves the capitalists, selling books, courses, and supplements to their followers. It’s a sad reflection on our society that these figures keep springing up and are so successfully able to grift off of their followers who are often in serious need of assistance.

Republicans Desperately Rethink Abortion Strategy After Midterm Flop
Republicans are reevaluating their stance on abortion after Democrats effectively used the issue to motivate their base and win over swing voters in the 2022 midterms. It’s long been the right’s goal to overturn Roe vs. Wade but now that they have actually accomplished that, they’re realizing it’s been a damper to the electability of their candidates. GOP candidates largely stayed silent on the abortion issue this past election cycle to the extent that they could and they’ll need to recalibrate their message if they want to make it an issue in 2024. In 2022, abortion was a top priority for 27% of voters, according to exit polling, and the GOP's focus on inflation, crime, and the border did not translate into electoral success. Republicans have only themselves to blame for the mess they are in, but many likely calculate that this was a crucial win for them and they can recover from the blowback over the next few years.

Fox News Doctor Demands (Existing) Protocol for Trans Kids
Fox News contributor Dr. Janette Nesheiwat made the case last week that there should be steps in place before gender-affirming care can be provided to trans individuals. She said, “we know that some people will benefit from transitioning to gender-affirming care, but we want to do it the right way. And that starts off with taking a history and a physical, maybe doing blood work, getting counseling and therapy, not rushing to hormones and irreversible surgeries that might have long-term consequences are irreversible.” This assessment by Dr. Nesheiwat is the correct one, but what she leaves out from her analysis is that this is already what is going on. The Fox audience has been led to believe that any patient can go into a hospital and right away get sex reassignment surgery. In reality, there is a process and it’s rather similar to the one laid out by the Fox News doctor.

I've known trans people and doctors who cared for them. Puberty blockers don't stop growth, they only prevent the body from producing the hormones that can cause breast development and menstruation in girls and beard growth, voice deepening, enlarged Adam's apple, etc. Once these are stopped, pubertal changes will resume unless hormones of the gender the individual favors are taken. If they start hormones, they will start having the hormonal changes they would have had if born in their preferred biological body. I don't know of any doctors that will prescribe hormones or puberty blockers without the young person going through counseling. It should be noted that puberty blockers are also used for medical treatment of other conditions.
You say that what Dr. Janette Nesheiwat requests concerning trans kids is already being done.
I disagree. I have a trans grandchild.
There is no counseling or therapy available to help examine where the desire to be another gender comes from. If a therapist or doctor does anything except affirm the petson's choice, it is considered conversion therapy and the person can lose their license.
What needs to change is to help these young people (especially puberty age) deal with their emotions and changing bodies. This isn't being done. The first time my grandchild told their doctor they thought they were trans, the next sentence out of the doctor's mouth was " Would you like a prescription for hormones?" I was there, I heard it.
Kids can't get a tattoo under the age of 18 because they are not emotionally mature enough, but they can take hormones that can change their body and fertility for the rest of their lives?
