Look. I appreciate your attempt to report without inflammatory rhetoric (I really do). However, when you note that some supporters and Trump critics “felt” that he was portraying himself as a religious figure by posting the meme of himself as Jesus, you’ve neutered your language to such an extent that an uninformed reader might imagine there’s room for debate about whether he was, in fact, portraying himself as such, and that’s absurd.
