Heaven help his wife, but if she stays with him despite his attitude that is so xenophobic and cruel, apparently she likes that kind of treatment. Either stand up for your rights as a person or put up and shut up. Simple binary choice.
Just an observation here, her family is from India, where the caste system is technically outlawed but still embraced.
Looking down or up at others level of priviledge is second nature, Indians are some of the most racist I've ever seen. People from the north are lighter skin color and tend to hate people from the south because they are darker. So you are correct, she embraces xenophobic and cruel treatment, as long as it's not directed at her...
You explained that perfectly. She is just as bad as him, like Melania and they deserve their husbands. My father faced gross injustice and left Bangalore to the UK for a better life. Status is everything over there.
"Vice President JD Vance openly embraced xenophobia, claiming it’s reasonable for Americans not to want neighbors who speak a different language or come from another culture. Framing it as a concern over overcrowding, Vance is normalizing racist attitudes. The irony is that his wife comes from an immigrant family."
Proposed Reporter question to Vance: 'Based upon your comment about how reasonable it is for neighbors to not want to live next to people from other cultures, are you saying you think it is very reasonable for your neighbors to want you to move away, because of your wife?'
Dinosaurs and fossils should not be serving in congress nor the WH. This is age discrimination in reverse. Talk about DEI, here is living proof Repubs practice it as well.
Grassley is symptomatic that those in power find it easier to stay there. Ironic that Grassley comes from farming state. He is hogging his seat. Thereby preventing others from serving. Term and Age Limits are needed.
If you are referring to Grassley answering the wrong question I agree wholeheartedly, and chump has done it too! BTW, I still agree with you anyway about the 10%. My goodness, 92 years old?!?
The age of the person is NOT the central problem. Most over 65 have been in office for many, many, many, many, years. I call your attention to the late Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) who holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Congress member of all time, with more than 59 years in office. He served from 1955 until his death in 2015. He took over the seat from his father, who served 22 years himself and turned over the seat to his wife, Debbie Dingell who has been there ever since.
Does anyone seriously think one person should hold the same any office for 59 years? Does anyone seriously think ONE family should dominate the office for 59+22+10 = 91 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nepotism is a just another form of DEI. The point being, age limits also prevents homesteading in office and allows others to serve.
Well, wow, what a new way to describe nepotism! I saw nepotism with the orange clown putting his family in his administration. But I never considered the Bush's or Kennedy's being ELECTED as nepotism.
One thing I wish is the ridiculous term, DEI, be retired and die out once and for all. To me it is just a white man's claim that only white men are worthy. Every job I had I earned!
The "DEI" term used to be called "Affirmative Action". Every employer had to complete reports of the number of applicants and their gender and race. It's been a long time but I think that was all they counted. It was meant to ensure that everyone had a fair chance at getting a job.
I don't see 65 as old at all, or 70, 75, but at 90, they should be retired. I am over 65 and far from a fossil, if my husband wasn't ill I would still be working.
It's so comical how the criminal Trump administration is constantly trying to make their alternative reality into the TRUTH! But every time,it explodes back into their faces! Saying things like prices are low,the economy is surging, that unemployment is down, that Trump has stopped numerous wars, and how the Democrats are responsible for the government shutdown! It would all be so laughable if it the country wasn't becoming a laughingstock around the world and a disaster here at home!
Even when Trump's supporters still say they support him, their support may be a softer version where they are less motivated to go out of their way to vote in support of him.
Another factor in the polls, just like in Russia, picture this: A stranger calls you on the phone, or meets you on the street and asks you very politically charged questions. What is the 'safest' answer you can give to make the person go away? Remembering the awesome power and technology available to the government, the same government which is already sending armed thugs without identification onto our streets to grab people and ship them overseas. The same government which is talking up the whole idea of sending the military into their cities. Whereas liberals will try and talk you into submission, at the worst.
Rural people may not like cities, but they still have to go into cities for various reasons, such as that being where the hospitals are, car dealerships, government offices, court houses... and having the city under martial law means they will have to have the appropriate 'papers and otherwise official permission to be there and handle their business.
Cities need rural to grow food, raise cows, sheep, chickens etc... mine various elements, pump up oil, maintain dams and lakes for our water, power plants for electricity and a host of other reasons, but rural areas need cities just as much, much as they do not want to admit it.
Politics breeds strange bedfellows. No doubt all of us have interdependence economically with those we would oppose politically. Just because someone loves their Ford F150 does not mean they love labor unions that build them and traditionally supported Democrats.
The problem with Trumpers is not their love and devotion to Trump. It is their hatred for others who are represented by Democrats. No amount of persuasion or suffering can change that.
Both parties are guilty of appealing to the fringes of their supporters that is a total turnoff to the other side. Religion, wealth and race has become too intertwined in politics. I see no way America can meet in the middle unless some major event or crisis forces us to unite for self-preservation.
There are two things that all of us should be able to agree on: 1) Respect for the rule of law; 2) Respect for the work being done by those who have gained their positions on merit, e.g., judges, teachers, university professors, civil servants and the like. Trump has turned all of this upside down. The other day on one of his in-flight pressers, he proclaimed that "everything is now a meritocracy" or something to that affect, as if he has suddenly transformed society. His transformation has been just the opposite: he purges the best and promotes the most unqualified. He evades the law and ignores court decisions. So he is at war against all of us, or at least the vast majority of us.
Well said. The last guardrail should be the courts. However the "rule of law" only applies to the rest of us. Rich guy hires an army of lawyers, defames the judge and the prosecutor and can buy endless appeals. The rest of us peons cannot afford that. We now have proof that there are two systems of justice. one for the rich, the other for the rest of us. The Sean Diddy Combs trial is living proof that justice can be bought. So much for the "rule of law".
Yes, we have a lot of work ahead of us to push back against the tyranny of the rich and powerful. But it has always been so. It's just gotten way out of hand now. "The arc of history bends toward Justice." But it only does so if we fight for it. "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." (Franklin? Jefferson?) Let's consider the long-term future. Do we really want our allies to be Putin, Xi, Un, and that guy in Hungary? Or would we rather have a country that is allied with Canada and Europe and other democracies? That's the choice we face.
Not sure I follow history bends towards justice? We only got Nuremburg justice by winning WWII. History is full of good guys coming in last place. We now have both the congress and the Supreme Court that work more for Trump instead of the country. So much for separation of powers. I see very little justice in our legal system when Judge Cannon seemed to be on the Trump defense team than being even handed. Her bizarre rulings should be basis of impeachment when the Democrats come back to power.
The big mystery is why Trump tips the scales toward Russia? Telling Zelensky he has no cards and then handicaps aid to Ukraine. It appears he is afraid of Ukraine winning.
Having Putin come to Alaska, I believe was a fatal mistake. Russia will now treat Alaska as Russian "boots on the ground" territory. What does he hope to gain if Ukraine falls? A Moscow Trump Tower or golf course? If Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, it will be open season on Europe. I see no benefit by handicapping Ukraine. It just shows American weakness that will embolden our enemies. Taiwan and South Korea watch out.
Speaking of Ukraine: That feisty republic has now made such progress on the development of high-end drones that NATO is interested in the "data" that they have collected by flying over Russia (east and west). Trump doesn't understand that because he's been talking about "steamships." But suddenly, Ukraine has "cards to play" and someone is going to be interested.
MAGAs want an "America First" approach, but this just makes America weaker, as you and others have pointed out. There are two big questions: 1) will the GOP turn this around? (I doubt it) 2) Will the Democrats use this to their advantage in the mid-terms? It doesn't seem like a mid-term issue, but couched in the right way, it could be used to embarrass GOP opponents. How can one say "America First" when policies and scandals make America's position in the world untenable? Stay tuned.
Good question. I saw that too and if it's what I THINK it is, then we will have found today's all new low point. Seems like a contest to see how low they can go.
That was just sarcasm as many on SNAP are overweight. The inference is that they are not starving and SNAP benefits encourage laziness. To that end, SNAP should encourage good nutrition and not fund junk food. SNAP should not be so generous that it becomes lifetime dependency. Those on it should also exercise some sense of responsibility like not have multiple children out of wedlock with multiple unknown fathers.
There are some restrictions on what SNAP can be used to buy. I recall a kerfuffle a while back from someone who could not buy Halloween candy using her benefits.
Not sure what the rules are. However makes no difference. It is common knowledge EBT/SNAP coupons can be traded like money for drugs. Called money laundering. The average store clerk paid minimum wage is not the best way to stop abuse.
Right or wrong, I am ASTONISHED how far Johnson is going to run interference for Trump and others.
Im not. That man is a snake of the highest degree. One of the best Christian liars I have seen!
I’ll second that 💯
A weak "man" protecting a weak "man-child."

Thank you for explaining this. I knew about the caste system, but not the north/south aspect.

The pattern of ignorance from the Racist Republicans is exhausting!
Definitely need to get about 10% of oldest people out of government.
Dinosaurs and fossils should not be serving in congress nor the WH. This is age discrimination in reverse. Talk about DEI, here is living proof Repubs practice it as well.

Why just 10%? Those over 65 need to go home and let others serve.
I'm 71 and my brain functions very well. But I would agree with 75 as a cut off.
The age of the person is NOT the central problem. Most over 65 have been in office for many, many, many, many, years. I call your attention to the late Rep. I am 65 and feel like I could do a better job than anyone in DC now. At least I have a heart, soul & moral compass.
I am a little older than you, Donna, and I am positive you would handle any of those jobs with grace and maturity!
It's so comical how the criminal Trump administration is constantly trying to make their alternative reality into the TRUTH! But every time,it explodes back into their faces! When one tries to create reality out of whole cloth, the plot holes begin to unravel it all.
They should all leave, permanently before the country crashes completely as frump and minions don’t do a thing but lie and steal
Lock them all up.
Treasonous republicans
Lock them all up and RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!!
Their bigotry and misogyny and xenophobia bond them to the end. Let's hope tRump's end is soon.

Always an educational and entertaining article…great “tease” for us to follow! Great work!
What is this weight testing for SNAP Benefits? I just read about here, this is the first I’ve heard. Anyone?

Bring in the Clowns!
I’m hoping that everyone’s seen,
