I think JD knows his wife would be tormented by the MAGAs. And it would be hard on his children too. He might have to step in if Trump passes, but I bet Thiel, et al, are telling him to step down in 2028..
I read somewhere that he may - at the urging (and possibly an ultimatum) of his wife - consider resigning the Vice Presidency altogether, presumably to mitigate his legal exposure for his role in the current administration. Say what you want about Usha, but she is a very talented lawyer who must see exactly where this is headed in the *highly* likely event that 47 either passes away, or just loses the House in November.
I think Usha is amazing. But sadly, I think the MAGA base sees her as a "brown" person only..guess we'll see what happens. Trumps health seems to be getting worse.
True..sadly, if someone with money and influence tells him to step down, he'd do it for them. I think he does love his family, but hes easily influenced...obviously (!)..went from calling Trump Hitler to wiping his a**!!! And I think he feels indebted to Thiel who's calling the shots.
I think we should focus on turning out Democratic voters -- especially those who stayed home in the last presidential election -- by developing a platform for improving Americans' healthcare, education, the economy, jobs, and affordability by taxing the ultra-wealthy to pay for it. I don't give a hoot which subservient, do-nothing, enabling Republican runs. We should not spend time or energy speculating about it.
Thanks, same here. If Dems are hoping to just coast along with WE ARE NOT TRUMP platform too risky. Dems thought they had shoe in over abortion. That is warning that women's rights unfortunately are not front and center. Running another woman (Kamala please stay home) not a good idea. Dems need new, fresh leadership, not concerned with their stock portfolios.
I personally like Pete Buttigieg. Not sure USA will go for married gay. He has put up with a lot of crap over it and it has made him tough as nails. See him in some cabinet position where he can make a difference. I have seen him in action and he is well spoken.
Oh, man; this is a tough one. I don't like him either. I agree with Monica that his blended family as well as his Catholic views wouldn't go over with MAGA
If JD sits out a cycle i suspect MAGA will lose most of its power. Thats if democrrates come in and get rid of all the MAGA policies, re-establishing norms and laws backed by legislation! That’s a lot of ifs though. I think maga must have a single leader bc the base of republicans aren’t exactly smart people and wouldn’t be able to rally their power without a leader! I hope he sits out and gives dems time to reestablish democracy hopefully stronger than before. Let the dupes return to their rocks, caves, and hollows where they belong. Here’s to rump being a one time freak of nature!
Perhaps JD sees himself as part of that wealthy evangelical/Catholic cabal-the 2025 creeps who have slithered into our government ( Russell Voght, the FCC guy, etc) plus the old members who are still around stirring their pots (Pompeo, Ball, et al), and, of course, several of the Supreme Court justices. I may be lumping all of the right wing Catholics together with the Christian Nationalist kindacatholics but aren't they all bedfellows? That kinship may not help him with MAGA, though.

I hope you are right, but his public actions don't show him considering his wife and children above his ambitions.
